82 Pickup Not Going Into Gear
Hey guys, I am in the process of restoring a 82 Toyota pickup. I have tried searching the forms but I still cant find what I am looking for.
My truck does not want to go into gear.I can go through all of the gears just fine when the engine is not running. When the truck is running the truck will not go into gear. The clutch is releasing maybe 1/2" from the floor.
I have done some looking on the forum and keep reading alot about the master cylinder or slave cylinder.
The truck only have 160,000 miles but has been sitting for the past couple of years. My father in law was the original owner of the truck and it has been well taken care off.
Thanks in advance!

To me, it sounds like a combinations of things:
1. Your clutch probably needs an adjustment. Its throw is way off, so I suspect that someone dropped in a new slave or master without checking the preload.
2. It could also be some air in the lines, too.
3. Your shift tower bushing is shot, this makes it difficult to get into the specific gears, and you really have to muscle it around.
My suggestion is to adjust and bleed the clutch, pull the shifter and swap in a new bushing, about a lazy afternoon's worth of work. Marlin has an awesome HD shifter bushing for about fifteen bucks, it's more expensive than most over-the-counter bushings but offers probably twice the lifespan.
