1979 back from DEAD situation.
First of all i'm new to the forum. I've acquired a 1979 toyota pickup with the 20R engine. Its got 85,000 miles on it and rust in it. Here's the thing, it hadn't been cranked in 10 years!!!
Well, last weekend I squirted some oil in the plugs, changed the oil, drained some coolant and changed the plugs. I then manually turned it a bit and let it sit overnight. I then changed the fuel pump in it along with the fuel filter and what do you know she fired up!!! It purred!!
Now after all that, I had to replace the master/slave cylinder and got the clutch doing good(Which I did today). Well when I cranked it this time and thought I would press the gas pedal. WHEN I DID THAT.......The pedal stuck to the floor and revved so loud I thought the engine was gonna blow. Now at first I thought it was the throttle I lubbed it up and fired it again and it revved but I caught it. I looked at the pedal and it was the rusted pedal. Now she aint purring and I hope I didnt screw the engine up or blow a gasket or something. It smells like something burnt or burning. Any thoughts on what it could be? I wish I would have caught the pedal sticking. I really wanted to baby it a bit not being cranked in a while.

Does any body think the high reving could have messed up something being how long the vehicle was sitting before it was cranked. It smelled like something was burning and there was some smoke rising around my heat shield. Any thoughts on this situation or should I not really worry with it. Also since it revved from the pedal sticking, it's not purring like it was last week. Could something in my carb be stuck?
