LED maglites
does anyone have a LED maglite yet? i'm wondering if they are worth the money... they are advertised as "3 watt LEDs"...so what does that mean in terms of brightness and battery life?

One bad thing about any LED flashlights is that you aren't able to focus the light as with regualar bulbs. It spreads the light out, but it's as bright as hell!

Well, that is not 100% true.
The flashlight hooked onto my firefighter coat uses "recoil LED" design. It shines the bulb backwords, into a reflector that can be adjusted like a normal flashlight. Works pretty good.
How many 3 Watt LEDS are supposed to be in this thing?

the DNR guy that visited us Sat. night, while we were fishing, had one and they are very bright!! Especially when they sneek up on you and basically shine it in your face. lol Don't worry we all had our licences and he sat around and talked with us for 20mins or so, and gave us some new spots to check out.

We went camping with some friends a couple weeks ago and they had that conversion kit. Let me tell you it sucked compared to my SINGLE AA 1watt LED Fenix L1P. The review I posted earlier shows that the conversion is better than a stock maglight so it's certainly an improvement.
But then again my fenix costs 3x as much so you get what you pay for. Do some research at www.candlepowerforums.com

Maglight is way behind the curve when it comes to LEDs. If they didn't come out with one, they'd die. Technologically, they're in the stone age compared to high performance lights now a days.

bought the maglite conversion at walmart for 5-8 bucks
easy install, worth the $, ??? I guess so.
I use it to read in bed at night, so I dont bother the wife
increased the battery life
a good buy in my book
