Secret Lake trail - British Columbia
Here a few pics from yesterday. Not all Toyota but who cares:
waiting for Aron to show up:
Steve negotiating the first cross ditch:
Matt (Lone "rockers be damned" Ranger):
this was a bit narrow for my liking:
Matt had never seen a "blue flame" before, so I demonstrated:
Aron's very well eqipped XJ:
Steve's turn:
Matt's 6 month old, bone stock Ranger. This gives you an idea of how narrow it was:
contemplating the next washout:
making the corner was a bit tricky with the long wheelbase:
gratuitous Toyota shot:
Aron was up next. This wasn't too difficult but the log on the passenger side was really slippery and wanted to track you into the washout if you didn't get the line right:
Matt, staying as far left as possible to spare his rockers, which proved to be futile by the end of the day:
more to come.......

Steve demonstated a few new dance moves he learned while everyone walked up to check out the next narrow section. Thanks Steve:
again, doesn't look too bad but it was a big drop on the passenger side and we weren't too sure how stable the bank was. Lucky me I got to test it first:
turned out to be fine. It was all clay mixed with rocks which is probably why it hasn't washed away completley by now:
Aron pretty much through it:
Steve lining it up:
looking forward to seeing that new bumper on there Steve!
Matt bringing up the rear. This shot gives you an idea of how steep the drop was. I don't know about everyone else but I was a bit nervous:
at that point a couple side by side Rhino's came up behind us and we let them pass:
still more to come......

There was a section of loose washed out ruts before the next set of pics that Matt's Ranger just couldn't get enough traction on to go up and over, not for lack of trying though. We ended up pulling some winch line but I was busy and didn't get any photos.
The next section after that has some pretty sizable rock steps to go up. We were a bit worried about getting Matt's Ranger through it, however with some careful spotting, a bit of rock stacking and some gas pedal it wasn't too bad. His rockers did get "kissed" slightly though.
Matt's Motto: "I don't care as long as I can still open the doors":woot:
this is the stuff my truck loves:
Aron picking his line:
last step before it was easy sailing to the lake:
Steves truck giving it some perspective:
Matt, going for it:
Ya that would be the torsion bar mounts you're on!
commited now:
he made it:party::
So it was easy cruising to the lake after that. Unfortunately I was to busy flapping my lips and stuffing my face with the Hot dogs Matt was cooking up, that I forgot to take any photos. I think someone took some though.
Lake had a pretty solid layer of ice on it and it wasn't very warm up there. No one was willing to go out and test it though.

Ok well jumping ahead since I don't have any lake pics.
Here is MAtt heading down the same obstacle you just saw him going up. It was definitely easier with gravity working with us:
Matt decided that in order to prevent any further rocker damage he would just levitate his truck down the trail:eek:
Aron showing how it's done with a solid front axle:
gratuitous Jeep shot:
The Lone "rockers be damned" Ranger himself:
Is it supposed to do that?
Hmmmm, yup I guess it's supposed to do that.
a few more to come.....
