2016 Toyota RAV4

Toyota is on a winning sales streak with almost as many ‘best month ever’ claims as Land Cruiser sales.

New cars are a hit right now, and Toyota is riding the wave of popularity. The automaker reported a total of 164,499 units through Toyota alone, with Lexus responsible for an additional 27,118 units.

“Through November, the auto industry remains on track to have its third consecutive year of new vehicle sales topping 17 million, in-line with our expectations,” said Jack Hollis, the group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division. “While light trucks continue to shine for the Toyota division, scoring another monthly best-ever led by an 11th consecutive best-ever monthly total for RAV4, we were even more thrilled to see our amazing dealers help the Camry sedan rise to have its best-ever November.”

The Toyota RAV4 sold 28,736 examples in November, which is the best November the RAV4 has ever seen. Well, almost. The RAV4’s platform-mate, the Lexus NX, also had a best-ever November with 5,404 units moved.

How many others had best-ever Novembers? 4Runner at 10,000+ units and Camry at nearly 35,000 units. The Tacoma and Tundra both posted gains of 4 and 1.3 percent, respectively.

Moving to the more luxurious Lexus offerings, and Toyota North America is still having a good month. In addition to the NX best-ever, the GX saw a 5.4 percent gain. The RX continues to sell well, netting 10,102 sales in November.

Sales Streak?

The Toyota RAV4’s 28,736 sales in November marked the 11th straight month that the model showed a month-for-month best-ever total. 2017 is already the RAV4’s best year ever too, with 375,052 units sold compared to 352,154 units in 2016. Don’t forget, the RAV4 has December to widen the gap too.

The Lexus NX, which was redesigned to look more like the big-brother RX, posted its 9th consecutive best-ever monthly total. Though it’s 51,931 sales to date hasn’t surpassed the 54,884 sold in 2016, the NX seems likely to catch up and add 2017 to its best-ever list.
