2019 Toyota Avalon: Redesigned and Ready to Rock

During the two days I spend in Detroit, Toyota grants me access to a beautiful Midnight Black 2019 Avalon Touring sedan, which starts at $42,200 and is one of seven available models, along with the Limited, XLE, XSE, and Hybrid versions of the latter three. (Base XLE models start at $35,500.) I will be using the Avalon to visit the Toyota and JBL facilities to learn more about the exclusive JBL audio upgrade, which includes Entune 3.0 Audio Plus with Scout GPS Link compatibility and App Suite, Clari-Fi, and 14 speakers. The system is an optional upgrade in the XLE and XSE models and comes standard in the Touring and Limited versions.

Available in V6 and hybrid options, the redesigned front-wheel-drive 2019 Avalon is an impressive vehicle inside and out. The 8-speed, automatic sedan’s big, bold new look comes courtesy of a streamlined front grille, making the new Avalon look more like a Lexus than a Camry. The lines and curves work together with the signature LED headlights to give the sedan a commanding presence that is both inviting and intimidating.

The midnight black exterior is complemented by a cool gray interior that really gives the 2019 Avalon an ultra-modern look. Inside, the gorgeously-designed cabin is spacious and roomy without seeming too big or over the top.

I sink into one of the wide and high SofTex ultra-suede-trimmed, eight-way-adjustable passenger seats with four-way power lumbar. Once I set it to my preferred comfort level, I sit back and prepare to experience the 2019 Avalon’s piece de resistance: The JBL surround sound system.
