Throttle Body Cleaning For
3.4L V6
7/18/2004
1. First separate the intake tube from the throttle body assembly.
2. Place a rag under the throttle body to catch the run-off from the cleaning fluid.
3. Open the butterfly and liberally spray
the inside of the throttle body with cleaner.
A helper can be handy to hold the butterfly
open while you spray everything.
4. Use a rag and a long screwdriver or dowel to scrub the wall of the throttle body. Again, a handy helper can hold the butterfly open while you do this.
5. Use a toothbrush to get to hard to reach places like the butterfly pivot.
When the inside is clean and free of gunk,
reattach the intake tube and start the engine.
The engine may not fire immediately or
may stumble for a moment. This is normal.
You should notice your engine now has a little more power and exhibits better throttle response. Gas mileage will improve slightly as well.
*Note: When cleaning the throttle body, some choose to remove it from the intake plenum. I do not feel this is necessary.
