Never mind, turns out I'm moving to Milwaukee...life is odd that way. Maybe I'll be reassigned to Alaska in 5 years or so, we'll see...

Its not hardcore I didn't have a winch or big tires, i have 31's as well and factory 4x4 with the dumb ADD. Just be careful with water depth if you have no snorkel and if you do the trail you have to make sure to wash out your engine bay the next day the silt from the river is some nasty stuff.

Eagle river is a nice suburb just outside of anchorage and has most everything you need there anyway. If you do need to get into town its like a 15 min drive. If i had to do it all over again I would have picked there.

Hey man, thanks for the heads up on the trails and the shop! I'm driving a T-100, so if you had to fold your mirrors I'm thinking I might have some trouble fitting through... Is the trail hardcore offroad? Or is it doable with factory 4X4? I'm not set up with a winch yet, and I only have 31's mounted...

Not sure what part of town we'll be living in yet, the wife and I just posted a "housing wanted" add (you can probably look us up on Craigslist) and will start combing the adds in earnest mid August. About the only thing going for me in that department is a smart mouth, a couple grand, and a heavy does of boyish charm, so any suggestions on where to live would be much appreciated. We've never been to Anchorage, and the only things I know about Alaska are from what I was able to pick up watching Alaska State Troopers, but trust me I took notes. :-)

Hey msc17, the wife and I will be moving to Anchorage from Montana this fall. Know any good mechanics? Or better yet, any good trails/camping spots?
