    hey,
I was looking online because I was having an issue with a 22re and your post came up about your 89 truck. This 4runner is a 91 and has been sitting around the shop for about a year now and had multiple mechanics work on it trying to diagnose the issue. One thing we had noticed was when we had a battery charger hooked up to the 4runner the idle sounded better than with out. I followed a couple of your posts and read the issues you were having with your truck and the problem sounded to be EXACTLY the same. So I'm not sure if you've scrapped your truck seeing as the posts about it were from a year ago but we followed your advice about the ground from the battery and upgraded to 4 gauge. We also put a new power wire to the relay box. This seemed to fix the problem seeing as the efi relay was over heating. I'm sorry I'm a year too late to help you but I wanted to let you know that you helped me a LOT. I hope you at least get something out of helping someone else =] thank you.
