Hello could you please tell me if a 2001 tacoma fve speed(I can get the wireharness too) 3.4 ecu and ors wireharness kit will work in a 93 4runner v6. Or will a 4runner 3.4 five speed ecu work better

Mess. got lost when I tried to break the mess. in half.
    We found a 96 3.4 engine from a wreck. prolly 200k mi. $600
Found a mechanic that will do it for $50 an hour
My son's '93 has a man. trans., needs a clutch. Wreck is auto.
My son is paying for this one - (he's a band teacher's aide, and has a lil local gardening biz.) So $ is tight!
Does this proj. even appear viable to you?
Can we pass smog, run AC, get another 100k out of it?
Some folks on YT and Toy Forum say that it's a simple swap, but to me it looks complicated given our lack of DIY experience (and possibly the mech. too).
Should we maybe just rebuild/repair the 3VZFE/3.0 engine? (again, it has 230k mi.).
Sorry for being so general, but we need to make a decision one of 3 ways: 1. repair 3.0 2. swap in the 3.4 3. part it out!
BTW Where do you teach? We grew up in Fresno (Hoover area). My wife taught at Hidalgo. I did st. tchng. @ Wilson and Easterby. My sis teaches at Rowell. My Pop retired from Fresno HS. Thanks Jason! Ed

dntsdad, Almost 3 years ago, we bought our son a '93 4Runner here in the area. ... looked at a ton of cars, but this one had all records and had been taken really good care of. 188k mi.
Now, it's at about 228k mi. and the head gasket has blown.
My son has learned to basic maintenance and care on this truck - alot of attention and love. We hate to just part it out and see it go.

Jason another question for you. I read your thread and saw you had problems with the speedometer wires just like I am. I know every application is different but my 93 4runner recipient has 3 vss wires and the 2000 4runner donor has 2 labeled as sp1+ and sp1- any ideas how these three wires connect to the 2 on the new harness? thanks much!

    Thanks for your help.

ok man, i hate to keep bothering you but i just blew up one of my starters and i cant figure out what im doing wrong.. i have my starter trigger and my STA port on my ECM hooking up to the B/W wire in my kickpanel but accordidng to your starter relay diagram, the bottom wire, i do not know where that hooks up.. i tried hooking it in with the starter trigger and thats how i blew up my starter. im guessing i gave it constant juice instead of it turning off after ignition like its supposed to.
