Yep, in fact, the factory service manual says you're supposed to, especially at the corners of the half-moon. I don't necessarily re-apply each time I take the valve cover off as long as the silicon remains intact. It seeps a little tiny bit, but its so minor that I don't take any notice if as I power wash my engine bay ~once a month.

i have been quietly reading about a 3.4l swap but still wonder about the fuel system, and what all i would need to bring from the tacoma to do it proper like. the 4runner i got for $86 was my sisters, then she sold it to a friend, then the clutch started slipping and that coupled with a oil leak and her trying to still go even with no oil, put a hurtin on the engine. but first, she put new tires on it and had oem a/c installed. im so happy cause i wanted to buy the 4runner from my sister but her friend had the money first.

I would say it does pretty darn good with the 31's which is because it is geared higher. The manual has 4.10's and the auto has 4.3's which is nice for larger tires.

I started with a basic set of hand tools, but it became clear very quickly that I would need more. I now have a large rollaway full of tools.
