Any body?? All responses would be appreciated!!

From what I can glean from the electrical FSM for my 1993 4cylinder plain vanilla p/u w/ac. The #2 speed sensor located in the instrument cluster is what appears to be used only with the electronic controlled transmission and overdrive function. Does anyone know if this is correct or am I interpreting the manual incorrectly? The #1 is located in the tail shaft housing appears to be used only for the speedo and odometer for the manual transmission. Can anyone confirm my reading of the manual.
