Fog light wiring on a '07 FJ

Hello all,

I want to put a set of KC lites on my FJ, but am not crazy about drilling a hole in the firewall. I found what looks like a plug near the master cylinder.

Anyone know if I can use this for wiring? I saw a picture of some one elses on this site, Corey was adding a fuse block. Or if any of you have a better method, please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Slayer.
I used that plug for running my foglight wires through.

Also here is a diagram I used when I wired up my ARB/IPF foglamps.
You can also get the same Tacoma switch I used for a factory look.

You are the man Corey!

I will go with using that plug then, I'll pull it out and cut the center i assume.

I'm not sure if my KC lites have an inter posing relay, I'll have to open the box and check, but i believe they are direct connect to the switch.

This fog light switch you have a link too; it will fit in my FJ console next to the A-Trac and Def Lock?

That is freak'n sweet!

One more question; Do you know what the largest size tire is i can get on a strock FJ without lifting or any other modification?

Thanks a million.

Slayer, let me double check in the morning for the wire that goes through the firewall.
I am sure I went through that plug.

Yes, that Tacoma switch fits, but you have to take a sharp knife and trim down the sides a bit, it is just a tad wide.

But after trimming it, it will fit and snap/lock into place.
Many have used that switch on the FJs in the lower console, and I put mine in the upper console.

Thank you, I like to make things look neat and tidy

Took a picture for you, the foglamps wiring is run through the same hole as a stiff wire with a red thing on the end of it.

http://www.pnw4runners.com/fj/foglamp_wire.jpg

I used a coat hanger if I remember, and taped the foglamp wire to it, then pushed it through aways, then climbed in and got myself contorted under the dash with a headlamp on, and grabbed and pulled the wiring in for the switch.

Ah, I see.
So you didn't use that plug from your previous picture, I think I can handle that.

I took the KC lites back as they would not fit on the "bull bar" I bought for the FJ, they were too tall. I'll have to find something with a lower profile, 6-1/2" max. from bottom of light bracket to top of light.

This bull bar is proving to be a pain as well; it didn't come with any instructions and I'm not sure about the mounting bracket.

If you look under you FJ, you will see two (2) holes in the frame right were your bump bolts to the frame.
The bracket for the bull bar matches said holes, however I don't know if I have to go through the hassle of taking the whole bumper off and bolt/nut the brackets for the bull bar on. Or buying some 1/2" x 1-1/2" body bolts/screws and just let them cut the threads in as you tighten them.... not sure if i can find 1/2" X 1-1/2"... I know 3/8" is too small.

Corey,

any idea where i can find an exploded view of an FJ Cruiser front end?

I'm trying to determine what i need to do to get the bumper off.

Thanks,
Kyle

A wealth of knowledge you are.

That shows me how to remove the bumper as it seems to be the only option.
I thought a tapping the existing holes, but i feel the metal is too thin to get a good thread hold and the jack-balls off eBay are no help.

Last question; Do you know the the max. tire size i can put on my FJ without a lift and that won't jack anything up?

Thanks man,
I appreciate it a great deal.
