My 86 had the same prob. It was the switch and connections in the dome its self. I had to push things around etc and blamo let there be light. Funny because this way like a week or two ago.

It took me awhile to find the thread it's in. I knew I remembered seeing it here before somewhere.

The door pin switches are what grounds the dome light. Should have constant 12 volt and then either the door switch or the switch on the dome light itself supplies the ground.

Will take out the switch and look at the back of it at some point. Also will remove the kick panels to see if I can access the plungers. This truck has had wiring problems as a new engine was installed and perhaps wiring diagrams were not followed.Anyone know the part # of the cold start injector time switch? The chilton manual I have has such small print on the diagrams I can't read it,besides my hands being shot from pinched nerves in the elbows. So often I have to wait and find help on repair issues. Can't really afford the shops as they're $95-$110 an hour in the California motherlode.Talk about a gold rush...Thanks for the replies.
