I'm assuming you bought the older model with the white case? I did a fair bit of research on that myself, never saw any thing about different power supplies. Even after doing the x-clamp fix, you may still have a problem with cracked solder joints. They used a solder that couldn't stand up to the heat cycling. If you can find an independent game shop, they usually charge about $75 bucks to re-solder the joints.

yeah its the older style..all the solder joints look fine, and thats the code the RROD is showing 0001...and im pretty sure its the power supply...the pins are slightly different but it fits...i dont really wanna just take a pic of mine and spend an hour looking through all of game stops stuff...they hated me the first time lol

I have fixed some. You have to reflow the GPU to get it fixed. The x clamp mod is just to prevent it from happening again. Youtube has some good videos on how to do it.

never heard of the brick turning red. No one to borrow a brick from for testing? I went thru 3 boxes myself and if it wasn't the mobo, then I had a problem with the DVD drive. Granted, mine were all built in 1996 or earlier. Finally just emptied my wallet on the new model, totally worth it. You can have my old supply if you want it, just sitting in a box. Have you tried opening the power supply for cleaning? Just opened mine to see and it was pretty dirty. A little dirt in the right spot could short something out, especially with your humidity. How many pins do you have? 2 are 12V supply, 2 are 5V supply, and 2 would be the signal circuit to turn the brick on/off. If one is missing, I'd say you got robbed for $15.

sorry for the delay, dad's in the hospital. Flat rate box is $11. I can get it on the way tomorrow afternoon, just send me your address. I don't have paypal, but I'll trust ya on this. I can always wish up a vengeful hurricane. My address is 1033 S. Longmore, Mesa, AZ. 85202. Feel free to hold the cash til you get it, no worries.
