sounds like you answered your own q.
pda's are great for quick scheduling and quick notes. but if you dont need that, then your laptop should suffice. my pda is also my trucks gps device though

PDA is a perfect complement to a laptop. I haven't used a paper calendar for over 10 years. I say keep it and save for a camera separately.
