I would not say that...Now that the Mac has a Linux core it is a bit more stable. I would not say better. As Stated and as a Network guy I really do not care for them. They don't play well in domains, Entourage stinks, but graphically they do well...Our creative dept likes them.

We're a Dell shop and they perform wonderful. I'm all Dell at home as well. No issues with XP or Vista. Fallout 3 looks great.

I'm not here to bash one or promote the other. I will say that you cannot beat Dell support (Gold Support, you can understand them) next day parts easy to rebuild when needed (not too often) or upgraded.

Ford vs Chevy...Toyota vs Datsun...

I'll push Dell others will push HP some push Mac. If I had the time I'd also be running Linux at home. In fact I have an extra box just not the time.

Same here. If I had time and some of the extra smarts it takes to format those I'd be running a lunix system as well.

I don't waste my time buying computers, my good friend builds them anyway you want them and they are flippin fast. Average start up time for his computers are 10-15 seconds and he runs windows. He can build a really fast computer for almost 500 bucks and they even look nice so i say neh to buying an expensive mac. Build your own! lol

My second one I did build and it's still going strong...That was about 6 years ago. My step son is using it now. I have built up a Dell that's about 4 years old now. 3.5GB RAM 3GB Processor. I think I'm holding about 2.5TB of storage if you count the external drives...I have not purchased a computer since 99 or 2000 can't rightly remember.

I'm not saying that they are perfect...I know they have downfalls as well as all the others. I do computer work on the side and have dealt with Customer Support on many issues and warranty work. Dell is the easiest I have dealt with. HP and Compaq are difficult and you have to send them back to get work done. Dell they send you parts or come to you.

Yes I have had the run around with them as well. Had to return a laptop and I was at a customers house and on the phone with Dell for over 2 hours but I did get my way.

My Macbook runs virtual box with windows 2000 (or whatever windows os you want) with my office software and we have no connection problems in or out of the office...the networking is actually easier. And it makes me a good living!
I highly doubt that if I plug in my PLC or HMI equipment into a usb port to program it, the mac will know what to do with it.
As for dual booting, look around on the web, you can run your leopard etc. on your $300 netbook now if you want. (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/10/09/the-l...eopard-laptop/)
Apple uses essentially PC based hardware with an extra piece of protection hardware that locks OSX to Apple computers.
Obviously just like they did with the region protection on DVDs, kids will find a way around it and now run their OSX copies on a variety of computers.

I've had absolutely no problems with Vista after SP1, it never locks up and the machine is on 24/7.
I always try to use decent hardware (intel board, cpu, network controller etc.) and it works very well. Apple does essentially the same thing, but people don't piece them together as PC users do.

Oh puleeeze!!!! I guess you could say the same for Toyota owners too, eh...

No need to slam mac users dude...just buy what you want...but don't state a bunch of made-up "facts" that you know nothing about.
Some Toyota owners also act like Toyota is gods gift to human kind. Not else is acceptable. Can't say I am one of them, just enjoy our 4Runners.
I find Toyota's car line up downright boring, leave that to the Germans in my book.

As of knowing a bit of computers, I was (CNA) Novell certified at one point of my life. That included using all different operating systems and tying them into novell servers.
I found programming PLC equipment and other automation equipment much more interesting and let the computer networking part slip a little.

I didn't want to slam mac users, but didnt word it right for what I wanted to say, I meant to say that there is a decent portion of mac owner that wants to convince everybody that they should convert to mac. I've run into a number op people that just slam the PCs for all its worth.
They have all kinds of issues with PCs that most other people don't seem to have.
Makes me wonder if they are the issue themselves, and apple puts out a good product specially for them.
