K&N air intake

K&N air intake
Hey guys , so I purchased a (used) k&N air intake for my 2000
4Runner . But when I was buying it the guy never said that it came out of a 98' apparently the plug for the maf sensors are the same but I'm guessing the maf sensors are different from 98 to 2000 ? I noticed that the wires that are in the plug are the same colour on both the 98 and the 2000. But they are in different slots . Would it work if I would just switch the pins around ? Thank a lot in advance .

The early version of the MAF was a bullet tube style. The later version MAF is a drop in type.
They are some what interchangeable if you rearrange the pins in the socket. You can search on yotatech for the steps to moving the pins.

Be careful with the K&N filter system. If they have too much oil on them, they can trip the CEL by mucking up the MAF.
I just run stock filters, I fine most people who have K&N's never clean them. Keep up the basic suggested maintenance and you should be fine.
