Just bought a Dell

Well I didn't want to buy a dell but this one is a must buy, I use the prefer account CC which let you have no interest for 18 months. only on the XPS system which I am getting.

I always like custom built PC then a complete one but don't have the cash on hand so I went on to use the dell CC to purchase one. Here are the spec,

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600 (2.4GHz,1066FSB) with 4MB cache
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
Dell USB mouse
DELL 19' inches UltraView(19 viewable) 1907FPCFlat Panel Display
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE ( Im a hardcore gamer but this one is cheap, will get SLi double v-card if the dell support it)
250GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005,English for Dimension XPS 600
Dell Optical USB Mouse
Integrated Audio
AS501 10W Flat Panel Stereo Speakers for 1704, 1905,2001FPFlat Panels

This new intel processor is to say the best processor for intel, beats P4 processor D and HT. This is enough to beat those AMD usher.

Intel -- - AMD

how much did you pay for it?

I would of gotten a monitor upgrade, a smaller HDD and buy a new one myself and add it on. I am a huge fan of the 10,000RPM HDDs

Also, why did you go with integrated audio? Is this an XPS system?

AMD and Intel are always passing each other....this time its Intel, next time AMD will be best. LOL Sounds like you have a great machine on your hands.

Yeah didn't think of that, I like those 10k RPM also but I still have room for the 2nd HD to go in, the integrated audio is connected through the motherboard, and yes it is a XPS and also bought the sound blaster 7.1 audio, I tought that I did bought the sound blaster HD but realize that I change it back to SB 7.1 audio but what I really want is the SB HD.

Customize built but a dell PC.

Total cost $1337.65 free ground shipping ( XPS system only)

i ordered a new work machine for me, at work...

i kinda over did it... okay... i lied... i wanted to. lol...

xps 700 with the red front.
pentium 965 chip.
2 gigs of ram
nvidia 7900...

best part was, since i had to wait 2 months to get it, dell is issuing me a $200 credit for something.

i might just get a second 7900 and SLI them together...

7300!? Should have upgraded that part! Not the greatest choice, I bought a 7600GT for $130 in May, plan on upgrading that once Vista and DX10 comes out to a 8600GT.

Oh and Intel might be ahead of AMD at the moment, but AMD's equivelent to Intel is half the price!

I built a few homemade rigs with AMD parts and MSI motherboards. None of them lasted more than a year before having some major issues. My current computer is a Sony, which uses an Intel proc and motherboard. I know cars better than computers, but in my experience Intel stuff is just more reliable.

In our college we have two machines with almost the exact same hardware except for one has a new intel dual core, and one has the amd 64bit dual core. We installed a fresh copy of xp pro on both and bench tested them together the amd won out on almost every test. However the difference was small and most likely not noticeable for the average user.

Also right now i am running a webserver that i built 7 years ago and has only been off like 10 times in 7 years. it is still using the original amd processor with no problems (and it was not a nice server processor just a cheap one).

the laptop im on is a dell e1405, was a quick purchase as my last one died in the middle of the quarter.

my specs are: core 2 duo 1.8 (2mb cache ), 1 gig of ram, 80 gig hd, dvd writer, fancy screen, etc.

very nice and i got it for about 1100 shipped.

ive built ALOT of computers in my time. from a builder's stand point, i love my intels, especially the new socket 775. they are so easy!

back when the p4 first came out on the 478 platform, amd's offering didnt have the solid slug on the top, causing physical failure if you installed the heat sink improperly. but when you are turning out 100's of computers, mostly in the wee hours of the morning, its nice to have something that you arent going to break!

im an intel guy, will be until they dissapoint me (they havent yet, and ive been using them for the last 8 years. my desktop is a 3.2 with ht. the core2 duo in the laptop. i have a p4 1.8northwood in my truck too!
