file size download question

Hi

I am hosting some pics/movies for a friend. She sent me a movie to my Yahoo email and the file size shows 9489 KB in my inbox. When opening the message, the attached file size is 6.8 MB. I downloaded the file to my desktop and it's now 1.68 MB. The format is .mpg.

Would it be correct to assume that I don't have the whole movie downloaded? I don't see how the file sizes could be that different and not have some problem somewhere.

Message size should show a number bigger than the attached file size, that's perfectly normal. File size, once downloaded, however should be exactly the same.

Just ask her about the running time of the movie and you'll know for sure if it's complete or not.
