Fdisk??

Okay, my computer has craped out again. I have Fdisked my comp before with a buddy. He is gone. Can somebody please give me expicite directions on how to do this. I have windows xp home. I have a dell about 2 years old. I have the resore disk. When I try to do that it wants to make another operating syestm along with my first. So far I have gotten to be able to go to the C:\windows> prompt. Please Email me because I cant check this site to offten. Thanks allot Wes

dont need to.

dell ships full version of windows.

boot from CD. when prompted, format the HD using NTFS. then continue with installing the OS from scratch...

ya like ldivinag said....just put in your XP disk and boot from CD-ROM....start the install process and it will ask if you want to format....and like also mentioned use the NTFS format...its faster... good luck

You might need to use fdisk and delete ALL of the partitions, then let the restore disk create a new one using the whole disk. Make sure to use NTFS and not FAT.

Did you try system restore first? If so and it didn't work follow the above mentioned instructions, that works well.

The XP setup will allow you to create and delete partitions all day long, so you only need to use it.
