I completely agree with you. I cannot go back now to my old 33K modem connection. When I go visit my sister with her dial-up connection, I just give up after a few tries. There is a nice bandwidth meter on this site:

I will have to try that one.
I use the one from DSL Reports, a broadband site and forums. http://www.dslreports.com/stest Here is the one from your link: Your current bandwidth reading is: 2.86 Mbps which means you can download at 366.05 KB/sec. from our servers. 28.8 kbps dial-up 33.6 kbps dial-up 53.3 kbps dial-up 56 kbps ISDN 128 kbps ISDN 384 kbps DSL 768 kbps DSL 1000 kbps DSL 1500 kbps DSL/T1/Cable Modem 2928.4 kbps YOU That is pretty close to my 3.0 cap Comcast has on me. |

3.02 Mbps on login.com. I get a huge variance from different d/l sites, though. This afternoon I only got 30kbps upgrading Ad-Aware from MajorGeeks.

I love my connection at school!!! I can download consistently around 1.3mbps. Thats download, not bandwith. At home with cable, I'm lucky to get 150kbps.
...
I use the one from DSL Reports... I have tried that one, too. My Comcast cable modem can get as high as yours did, just depends on what time of day it is and the other usual factors. I also find different speeds from all the various bandwidth speed test sites I have tried, I just happened to stumble across the one at login.com recently. I like how they put in the download speed from their servers, good idea.

Yes, RicNkc, it's good. Far, far and better than dialup modem or slow speed digital internest access. |

![]() That was when Little Rock, Ar. first got Comcast high speed internet. I wasn't limited for over a year. My uploads were well above 1.5mbps. It was great. Now I average around 3.5mpbs down and 256kbps up....

I just use a program called inetbench and then bounce it off a fast server like google.com or yahoo.com ..... Gives a pretty good idea of the speed of your connection (more often I use it to diagnose if my service is down or not)

Cable is awesome.....when it works. I am surfing at work now because my connection has been down for 3 days and my cable company says they can't get someone out until Wednesday. They've been out 3 times in the last month and it has been a line/node issue every time. I hope everyone else has better luck. By the way, I have Charter.
