Battlefield 2
Demo is out, and links can be found here.
http://www.eagames.com/official/batt...d2/us/home.jsp Vids: http://www.eagames.com/official/batt.../us/videos.jsp The graphics look very nice, as the engine has been updated to a newer one than what Battlefied 1942 and Viet Nam used. http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...s/ns/full1.jpg http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia..._screen_05.jpg Demo is around 500 MB, but even with broadband all the servers are getting hit very hard, so it may take a few hours still to get this game. I am more into futuristic combat first person shooters such as Unreal Tournament, but I may get this game later. Depends on how much I like the demo, and after playing the full version over at member Drew's home after the release comes out next week. As seen in the Counter Strike Source thread elsewhere in this section, Andy will be adding this game to a server. He already has the CSS server, and purchased another one just for this game here. |
I have been waiting for this for a long time. It looks sweet. I have been playing the Desert Combat skin, and it looks very similar to what that is like. I am really looking forward to playing it.
|
Yeah this game looks sweeet. Might have to download the demo and give it a shot.
|
I and my son played it yesterday, it is very good.
It would be worth picking the game up. He had to laugh at me for spending 4 hours to DL it, as others already had it and where sharing it on Limewire where the DL would have gone a lot faster. The servers I was getting it from the other day were way overloaded from hungry BF players wanting to test it out. |

He already has the CSS server, and purchased another one just for this game here. BF2 Server up. :giflag: So to access the two Battlefield 2 servers, just search for flybye. By the way, the following 3 games are running on the two servers: Flybye's Seattle OC3 Server #1 - 64.34.33.204:16567 Battlefield 2 Counter Strike Source Flybye's Seattle OC3 Server #2 - 64.246.174.203:16567 Battlefield 2 Unreal Tournament 2004 (to play this game, either use the IP addy for server #2, or search for Seattle dedicated OC3 in the Internet list for UT 2004. what are the specs of the server and the bandwidth? Is 16567 the only port that needs to be open? I don't care about VOIP...
|
bah, once again i get crappy pings to your west coast servers :barf:. I love this game :great:
i have a mildly outdated vid card so i have to use all the lowest settings, mine doesnt look ANYTHING like those screen shots |
I will let Andy answer, as I do not know the specs.
However I do know the download of the server when testing it from DSL Reports speed test page is about 5X my Comcast cable connection. I get 4 Megabit down, and his two gaming servers get around 22 Megabit down. I get around 300 kb upload, his upload is 11,000 I think. It is insane. |
im sure the server is great, its the 42309847209 miles away part that sucks for me :pop:
edit: ohh, you were responding to the post above me :great: |
wow...is there a password to his server?
|
Data, his server is running right now for BF2.
Just type in uwarfare in the search field in the game, but not the link in the Start menu that takes you to EA Games sanctioned servers. Just got off the phone with him, as we have been fine tuning UT 2004 which is on the same box as BF2. The box can handle both games with no problem. Here are the specs: Intel P4 3.0 I think 2 GB of ram OC3 Internet connection, whatever that means. If you mean password to the box too, yes, we connect to it remotely to edit ini files, restart the games, ect. It is fast. I get around 20 to 30 ping on it, and I am about 30 minutes away from the location of it in Seattle. If you can join in Friday night for UT, that would be great. It is smokin', and right now I have it setup so you can change the game styles (all weapons, or only Instagibber) and maps yourself in game. PS, I see you asked about VOIP. We are disappointed with UTs voice chat, it is not loud enough, and you only talk to your team. We got something better, it is called Team Speak 2. http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php The server side software must be installed on the server, and then each person downloads the client side. We just tested it now, and it rocks, and it very loud. You can also use it when you are not in a game, so it is pretty much like that old app called Roger Wilco if you remember that one. We will have that setup for Friday night for UT. |
Oh man. I'll be out of town on Friday night and I won't be back until Sunday. A big group of us are going up to Disney, Oklahoma to wheel. :)
|
Yea.. I was hooked on the demo... but was stuck with finals when it was released.. now that things have calmed down.. I'll get it...
