any Apache gurus

I'm running Apache on my webserver. By default, when you specify a directory in the URL, it looks for index.htm or index.html to display. If those files are not found the directory listing is displayed.

Is there a setting I can change so Apache will also look for index.php by default?

Cool, thank you - the php answer was what I was looking for. I figured there had to be a way to edit the conf file, but I didn't know where to look.
