unidenpro 520xl and 102" whip problem

hey all i got a uniden pro 520xl with a 102in whip antana and the problem is i am somewhat reciving people but they cant here me and i talked to this two way radio guy and he said i cant really tune it so i dont know what to do any one have any suggestions?

my truck is 92 toy
35 bgs 2 inch body 4inch suspension
with 22re
stock gears

At the very minimum you should have the SWR tuned on it. It's not hard to do especially if you have a cb shop near you or a truck stop. You can do it yourself if you buy an SWR meter from radio shack. What kind of antenna is it? K40? Wilson? It should be tunable either by cutting or adjusting. Once your SWR is tuned you will notice a huge difference.

i dont know what kind it is i just bought it from radio shack and i also dont know how to tune antanas like would i have to keep the swr meter on the whole time or just tune it and then i can return it haha? and there is a cb shop near me but they dont tune stuff and a truck stop about 30-40 mins away from me but radioshack is the closest to get a swr meter i just dont know how to work it

i have the same CB only with a 36in firestick i havent had a bit of problems with it. but my dad has that cb also and a 48in (not sure of the brand) fiberglass whip on his dodge... after he installed it he could barley pick me up less the 5 miles away with it.. he took it down to the cb shop and they did something internaly to it but they said his bigest problem is that he had coiled the extra wire instead of figure 8ing it. but i instead of buying the pre cut 10, 20 or 25 ft coax cable for it, just bought the length of coax ( RG58 i think) and then picked up the correct ends for the cable and crimped them my self so i dont have extra wire that can cause any problems.

ok i took the swr meter thing and toook some of the coax cable off and put a nylon washer in between the whip and the mounting bracket thats on my tool box but people can here me crystal clear now but i cant really hear them its all staticly could it be that my cb isnt ground correctly or its there cb?

On mine, I ran dedicated power and ground wires from the battery (fused of course) and ran that pair or wires, twisted to reduce interference, back to the radio where I also installed a power line filter. Radio is nice and quiet even with the engine running. Some tips below:
