Glovebox mount would interfere with the passengers, and this thing is too big for the ash tray mount.

theres not many options in a toyota cab
![]() what about on the side of the tranny tunnel on the passenger side? it would fit on the dash? but it would look tacky! what about in the glove box?

I think my best bet would be between the seats or on the passenger side tunnel. I would like to keep this thing protected from dust and mud, so I tried the glovebox, but it's just too big. It's not one of those tiny little cobras, it's a big cobra 148. Got it for x-mas and I like it, but it's really too big to mount anywhere in the 4runner. I may just have to deal with it being in the way somewhere. I thought about a roof mount, but I think it would hang down too low. Plus I'm not real sure how to make a box for a roof mount. I thought about cutting the lower part of the radio bezel out as well as the surrounding peice to fit it down there, but I don't know.

Why not like this?
![]() I know it's only a wee little midland, but it's just an idea. I actually had it jammed between the bottom of the radio(when I had the old double decker factory radio with equalizer!!) and the coin tray thingy on the shifter trim.

This is a cut up radio bezel With the CB in place. It is so wide that it won't slide in between the stock radio mounting brackets, I would have to trim to the line that runs around the bottom of the peice, and it doesn't leave room for the radio. I may have to mount it below the whole "console" if I mount it there.

I mounted mine on the glovebox and havent' had any complaints from passengers. I just mounted it as far towards the drives side of the glovebox as possible,

It should fit there just fine and it'll be a tight fit!

![]() Like this? I had complaints from this little thing, but I guess that was with my bench seat in that old truck, and since I'm short it was slid all the way up. I guess with my buckets in the rnr it wouldn't be too bad. One thing I'm nervous about is someone stealing it though... I guess I'll just have to leave it out for daily driving and put it in for wheeling.

I figured it would be! Not very much space down there.

What you really have to look out for is the space behind the whole mess!!! I had to unmount some relays to get all my wiring in place.
You could always mount it on the dash if you don't have the clinameter there.

![]() I tried this for awhile. ![]() This was ok, but difficult to adjust the CB settings while moving. This is where I mounted the mic.

Oh, and I installed a quick disconnect in the line, hidden behind the dash, so that I can unplug it easily (as it is hardwired in) and take it inside with me. Under the steering wheel keeps it out of prying eyes.

Now I like that!
I'll try that first. I'm afraid I'll be bashing my knees on it frequently though.

You get used to avoiding it when you get in and out. It's not that bad, but the control are tough to reach when you drive. Other than that, I really liked it there.

Yeah I remember mounting a switch right next to the steering column and nailing my knee every time I got in there. I finally ripped it off of the dash and mounted it right next to the clutch start cancel switch. Anywho, I'll mock it up and mount it with rope first, just to get an idea of what it will be like. I may have to extent the cig lighter power cord to reach, but that shouldn't be a problem. I also have a power cord I can hard wire. Thanks for the idea.

I am partial to the glovebox area.
Ran it that way in the '91 4Runner, and it is in the same place in the new rig. No interference with passengers legs, and I can reach the controls fairly easy too. ![]()

I guess that will be the next place I try it. How do you like the CB anyway? I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
