Next, find a compatible GPS. I got a Garmin nuvi 265WT from Costco yesterday for $250. Once you connect it to your computer you can d/l firmware, software and map updates for free in a few minutes. This has the 333 Mhz processor from their high end units and is significantly faster and more sensitive than my last Garmin 760.
The 265WT has an awesome new feature. You can select any picture from Google Earth and d/l the geotag directly to your GPS and it'll take you there with text-to-speech turn by turn navi.
I don't think it has FS roads, but you can buy SD cards with that info. However, it does have maps for all 50 states and Canada. This is gonna be such a fun toy for exploration.
