Need help wiring a PA horn!

Alright, so this may seem like a really stupid question, but here goes: I recently bought a CB and decided to pay a few extra bucks for a PA horn as well. I wired speaker wire to the red and black wires on my PA horn and ran it back into the cab. My problem is, I don't know how to change the raw ends of my speaker wire to an 1/8 inch plug for my cb. I've already tried just cutting off the end of a pair of headphones and using that, but the wiring in those is so small it won't make for a good connection. I've also tried soldering an 1/8 inch output directly onto the end of my speaker wire, but due to my huge solder iron, and the relatively large gauge of my speaker wire, the positive and negative always touch, leading me to only get a very faint crackle out of my PA horn. SO what do I do now? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Andy

for raw wires you need to go buy a 1/8" TRS connector (headphone jack) and wire it up - since you can't really open up one from a pair of headphones. if the wires are too big, you may have to get a 1/4" connector and use a reducer, but there may be an 1/8" one designed for large wires. if your wires are touching, electrical tape, liquid electrical tape, or shrink tubes are your friend.
