Garmin Gps Antenna ?

Hello,

I am looking at buying either a garmin c330-c340 during this black friday. I have been looking up external antennas for them on ebay. I have one questions, which would be better to go with 28db gain or 55db gain?

Thanks

Never had the need for an antenna with my new GPS (GPSMAP 60cx)

My old one, the GPSMAP 76 had issues in forests. Never tried an aux. antenna though.

Not sure what the gain is on my SP-III external antenna (likely low, it is the old deign from ~2001). But it does help a lot in the trees and canyons. I rarely get drop outs in reception unless it is very dense tree cover with limited sky visibility.

My girlfriend got a 330 last Christmas and it was stolen in February. We replaced it with a 530... huge difference in reception and worth the slight difference in price. No need for an external antenna with this one, great reception in mountains or even in long tunnels. It locates the sats quicker on startup too, maybe 10 seconds vs 2 minutes sometimes with the 330.
