Are they turned on? Tuned to same channel? just kidding...

Check your grounds. What type and model of antenna are you each running (mag mount/Firestick/steel whip)? Did you "tune" them with a meter? Can you hear anything on your radio (another person rather than your buddy)? What model CB?

you may have already burned up the finals trying to use it. Find someone close by that knows how to tune an antennae. They will be able to tell you for sure.

Try to find a local truck stop. They should know of a good local place or two.

Try the weather channels, if you can get them. That way you can determine if you can recieve at all.

Make sure your squelch isn't maxed out, it'll block everything out...

Also, make sure your RF gain isn't turned down all the way, you won't be able to pick anything up.

Here is some basic info on what SWR is:

http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/swr-intro.htm

They mention the use of dual antennas, but don't even think about it unless you are driving Tractor trailer rigs with at least 8' between antennas. There's entire forums dedicated to that whole argument.

That's the easiest way. So follow the instructions on firestik, and watch that meter.
