Arrow Thoughts about Kicker ZX750.1.

I'm thinking about getting a Kicker ZX750.1 to power my 2 12" Kicker CVRs (dual 2 ohm VC). Do yall think this amp will push these well enough?

I have heard that this amp is awesome and i already know about the quality of Kicker. So far the subs are awesome.

If anyone has any personal experience with this amp or anything, please chime in and let me know how you like it!

If each sub is dual 2 ohm VC, then the amp will see a 1ohm load per speaker. .5 for both in series. That amp will not run .5 or even 1ohm.

what if i had the subs set up on a 4-ohm setting, then wired it up like normal from the amp.

okay, disregard if you just read my first post, as i'm editing now....

just wire the subs in a series/parallel configuration: wire up each sub to 4-ohm using the series method and then wire each sub (now at 4-ohms each) in parallel to the amp...and...presto!!!...you have your amp wired so it will produce max power, 750 watts @ 2-ohms like it stated on kicker's website, and will be beatin-down-the-block in no time...

haha, sorry for the brief scare...didn't mean to do that to ya! but yeah, when i had my 2 pioneer premier 12s that were dual 2-ohm, i wired them just like i stated, as that'll give ya the best results. and by the way, post some pics of the system when it's all done, as i'm sure it'll turn out nice. well, good luck with it man, and most of all, watch out for those cops, as a sound ordinance ticket isn't cheap...

Since i dont have an Amp yet they subs are in the house so i dont have to carry the biotch around for no reason. teh box is a little overkill, my dad and i made it. kinda first time. i wanted a ported box and the ports didnt make the best sound quality, so i plugged them up.

DISREGARD THE SONY AMP!!!

cool, and i'll give ya some props for going for the build your own box, as i did that also. i eventually went with one of those ported boxes that are rhino-lined inside and out. i think it was a necessary item, as me and some of my friends all ended up running those boxes with our pioneer premiers...man those things were LOUD!!! lol! but do some searching, aka for some subwoofer box plans, as some sites even have calculator tools that allow you to just plug in the dimensions you can afford to have in your ride, and they'll spit out a cool box plan...just a thought if ya wanna try the build-your-own approach again. just make sure whatever box you go with, it's sealed up extra good...(main reason i went with the box i did)...

well i tried to look some plans up, but i should have looked for sealed applications not ported.

if you look in the last pic you can see some caulking on the edges of the port. we used it on every mating surface and you can see a little overkill on the screws as well.

once again disregard the sonys

yeah, you definitely can't go overkill on the sealing it up part, as on sealed boxes...loss of pressure in the box = loss of SPL. you can even fiberglass the inside of a sealed box, as that makes pressure loss nearly zero...

you can set the subs up to run on 4ohms and then wire the amp up to run on 2ohms so that both the subs run on 2ohms each.

Well yeah! And what is the damn point of that? The whole point of playing with ohm's is to maximize wattage. Not maximize ohm's.

once again, this dude has no clue what he's talkin about when it comes to getting performance out of any car audio system. yes, the point is to maximize wattage, but with the ZX 750.1, it is designed to produce its MAXIMUM wattage of 750 watts at 2-ohms, which is the lowest impendance it can go to, and that comes straight from kicker's website. so therefore, you HAVE to wire each sub in series to 4-ohms and then wire the two subs in parallel to the amp, which DOES INDEED produce a 2-ohm load. so you are NOT MAXIMIZING the ohms dude, you're actually MINIMIZING the ohms to the lowest impendance that your amp can safely handle and produce its MAXIMUM power at.

sounds to me like you need to read up a little bit more on the whole car audio subject before posting more stuff like this...

MIke is correct.
If the amp was stable to 1 ohm, then you could run it there. but it isnt, and you subs wouldnt even hit 1 ohm (2x1 or 4/2 both equal two, you cant bridge them at 1 ohm), unless u have two 4ohm dvc subs)
just run the two subs at 2 ohm total, with that amp, it should sound great. my bud has the exact setup (with that sony amp lol) and it sounds decent.

no, only 1/2 the same. both he and i said that the point is to MAXIMIZE wattage, but he also said to MAXIMIZE OHMS, when in fact, you have to MINIMIZE ohms to the safest point that your amp can handle. this "point" will be where you get the most power out of your system...
