Stereo Wiring Nightmare!

Picked up a 4runner without a stereo, attempted to install one and realized how bad the wiring was hacked. I've installed a stereo in a gen2 runner before and it had a factory amp. no problem. mine (1st) gen was all hacked up, it has 3 connectors (1 white female, 2 blue male) some dangling wires and a single connector with a red wire.

tested the speakers with a battery (pop test) and it all worked. cant get power from constant 12v. ran it just off ignition power, powered up but no sound. double checked all connections, it could be the deck, but i know theres something fishy about the wiring. ANY ONE CAN HELP???

cliif notes: no constant power 12v, everything connected = no sound. 3 connectors (1 white female 2 blue male)

anyone have a fuse diagram?

Did you try to bench test the deck with a spare speaker to ensure the deck works?
Is this a new deck or an old one?

Did the truck have any factory amp installed as well?

you're better off just wiring it anyways. i remember that my old 1st gen was pretty easy to wire. i only had 2 speakers in the dash, and ran wires to the rear speakers.

no i didnt bench test it. its an old deck that my brother said would work. i believe it had a factory amp because there are more than 2 plugs in there. when all wired up it leaves two plugs out which have no power when ignition is on??

I just started over and ran all my own wireing. The only stock wire I used was the origonall deck powere wire which I found with a test light (think it was green with silver or something like that). A ran some new speaker wire to the front and rear and wired in an amp and cap under the seat. That whay if something goes wrong you don't have to deal with all the factory cap. If a speaker stops working, there is only one wire that could be at fault if you replace the factory stuff.

i seriously doubt that there is a factory amp in a 1st gen 4runner. i know mine didnt have one it was intergrated with the head unit.
