amp hookup question
we were going to put a sub in my friend's truck just to find out that his pos sony head unit doesnt have rca outputs! my question is, is it ok just to use one of the normal speaker channels for input to the amp? its in a 1st gen pickup and he doesnt have any rear speakers so we were thinking of just using one of those but just wanted to make sure we wernt going to burn anything up doing so.

x2 get the converter basically you plug the speaker wires from the head unit into this box and it has the RCA jacks on it. Really simple go to best buy or something and ask them. Ive done it in a bunch of friends cars to keep the stock tuner for the "factory" look but more "bump". Also alot of times now you cant diagnose the car without the factory unit plugged in. Good luck

Just remember you get what you pay for. Especially in car audio.

yeah i know you get what you pay for but its going into an 81 pickup and the most expensive part of his setup is a sony head unit, quality isnt the top concern as far as the audio goes, just as long as it works hes happy.
and i didnt see any at walmart when i was there, but havnt had much of any time to look anywhere else.

I am using an amp with my stock head unit and bought this Line Output Converter from Crutchfield:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...rter&i=142SLC4 not expensive and has individual gain controls for each output, highly recommended.

I am positive they have them at WW. I have bought one from there before. They also sell them at auto parts stores.
