As in when the truck was purchased from the dealer, it didnt have any of those items? Or has it never had those items whilst in your possesion? The stock radio amplifier had a little plug like that.

4 prong is the clock i think...It was the smallest plug behind the stereo i found when adding it to my 87. If you dont have one it ends up down behind there somehow. My friend says they started behind the clock block off cover thing.

1985, No A/C, no clock when I bought it it had a block off plate in the dash where the radio would go and no speakers. Bought the truck off the original owner who said he ordered the truck with no options.
I installed the radio through the factory plug with an adapter through crutchfield and installed speakers in the dash and everything works fine. Speakers are also connected through adapters through stock wiring on speaker wiring ends. This four pronged plug still remains I found the plug for the clock taped up high so I know this one is not for the clock. I also found another two prong plug taped next to the blower motor. I suspect it is for the AC connector ie switch located to the left of the heater panel. But a picture of the connectro and wire colors, we could probably postively ID it.

the only way to know is if you post a picture of it.
![]() It could be the clock or the rear speaker wire harness...

It is the clock. 100% sure on that. first gen runners and second gen trucks came wired for a clock whether they had one or not.

If it's right next to your radio plug, it is also for the radio.
I just bought a Toyota stereo adapter harness the other day for my Tacoma, but it's good for '81 and up. It has two plugs, and so does my truck. One larger 9 or 10 prong plug for the power, front speakers, etc. A smaller, white, four pronged plug right next to it (like he says above), also for the radio. (Rear speakers). Wouldn't an SR5 extra cab of that vintage have rear speakers? Therefore the extra plug in the OEM wiring harness? Last edited by Rembrant; 12-20-2006 at 04:05 AM. |
