Political threads

There seems to be more and more political threads started by you know who on off-topic. I had always thought that they were against the rules but apperantly no so. Could not find it in the rules section. I know people tend to get very heated sometimes and also some here like to post propaganda towards the loser of their choice. Thats all well and good. So what are the rules for political threads?

I too would like to know the rules regarding this.

I log on to YT to read about Toyotas, and things related. I know its political season, but reading new threads about Obama sucks, and Hillary sucks, etc etc is getting old.

Too much room for nastiness in those threads, and there's already too much drama in the world.

2008 is an election year, I would be willing to bet that it's going to get worse before it gets any better(I'm talking about the threads, not anything else, except the Patriots cheating)

Read the sticky at the top in there.

I for one do not like the political threads.
They get to heated, flames start up.

So I will discuss this with staff.

I for one do not like them, and I am all for YANKING every single one of them.

Join a political forum where they allow flaming and name calling, as the two go hand in hand.

Go to a political forum to discuss politics. We come here to read about Toyotas, not sift through pages of ignorance and rhetoric.

Corey, consider this vote #1 to ban Political discussions all together. I was on the fence until a minute ago, but 4Mogger has convinced me this website has no place for that. It just leads to problems and petty insults (as seen in his above posts)

I follow the rules. I do not name call or flame IMO.
But to ban the threads makes YT seem ridiculous.
You would lose me as a regular which I suppose would make more than a few people happy. And you know I would be vocal in my disagreement around the web.
But a completely sensored, rule laden BB is not my idea of an appealing forum.
Enforce the current rules and encourage those who flip out to abstain from reading/participating. That would be the "fair" thing to do.

I agree.
I do not like to discuss politics or religion online.
I will in person where I can gauge a person by their expressions, but online it is different.

There are tons of forums out there that allow this type of discussion.

It is a work/family/flame free forum, at least we try to keep it that way, so certain thought/ideas here do get censored.
Do not like, feel free to start up your own forum or join one that allows this type of stuff.

If you do this, the impression will be that the Liberals here have banned the political threads.

Post a poll. Ask people to identify their political affiliation and whether political speech should be banned. Put it to a vote. NO (or virtually none) CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN WILL VOTE TO BAN.

Sorry but you do name call. When you call someone you do not know un-American or "you hate America", that is name calling and flaming which are against the rules here. And I am not the only one you have done this too. So if you do leave, I won't shead a tear.

I never said anyone was UnAmerican. I have said that their ideas are. And no one has proven different.
I won't leave unless I am banned. But I have no interest in coming to a site that has Nazi thought police censoring the posts.
