Wrdette - 82 Pickup Build @ ORS

project: Wrdette (pronounced wurd-et). This truck belongs to Derek, one of our fabricators. Derek's nickname is "Wrd" so that is where the project name came from.

This is how the truck started, it looked like it had been stuck in Marty McFly's garage for the past twenty years. it is an '82 shortbed that had a huge body lift, hacked in small block Chevy with too much carb, lift blocks, a roll bar, and a Ford 9" with no brakes. We decided to rescue the truck and put Toyota parts back on it for improved reliability and simplicity.

Awesome!! That is quite the rescue, not much left of the '82...I would love to have my '81 end up with that much travel The quality of work that comes out of ORS is always outstanding

OT: have you guys done a 3.4 Conversion in a 1st Gen truck yet? just curious..

ps: Try a free pic service like photobucket.com, than you can just copy the [img] code and not worry about links...

To a 1st gen 4runner, yes in the shop.
To a 1st gen pickup, not in shop, but plenty of customers have.
A nice difference between power, thats for sure!

And as far as photobucket here... I'm new and didn't have our photobucket acct info yet when I posted

Friday Wrd got alot done on WRDETTE. He plumbed up all the brake lines.

Not very exciting, but somebody's gotta do it, and of course we got pics

Well WRD has gotten some more work done.. (and I've been delayed getting the pics up)

Wrd started off by adding some safety features, door braces. They don't hinder you from getting in, but they will help keep you in, in the event of a rollover (always wear your seat belts/ harnesses).

He also added a Currie Anti-Rock sway bar in the rear.

Here you can see the new bumpstops, limit strap, and the link for that awesome sway bar

Here you can see it all!

Your 4runner was a huge inspiration to my build. If you take a look at it im sure you can see some similal features. Nice build so far Cant wait to see some action shots of it!

I've never seen a truss like that on the rear...interesting design...

EDIT: oh and whoever chose that paint scheme should be shot! Are there any plans to repaint?

Nice build!

Have you tested the AntiRock yet? I'm thinking of using it in the front of my 4Runner...

We are a HUGE fan of the Currie anti-rock sway bar. Works really well.
