Ways to increase tongue weight capacity?
Does anyone have any suggestions/methods of increasing the tongue weight of the factory class 3 hitch? I'd like to run something along these lines (www.mototote.com) but feel that their design could stand some improvement.
I'm in the very early stages of throwing around ideas, but am thinking of the possibility of welding some secondary hitches to better distribute the load.
I would also run the airlift 1000 system to help with the added weight.
Right now I am dead-set against trailers so any suggestions to get the ball rolling would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -James

A custom rear bumper that has 3 recivers (2 on the 1/3 spaceings and a "stock" center one) this would allow you to modify the cycle ramp to have 2 locations it connects thus distrubiting the weight better and eliminating any side to side rocking that is common on just the 1 center sq mount (if you have a rear cargo carrer you konw what i mean)
WIth some aftermarket springs (or air bags) it should be no problem. I had upwards of 200 lbs on a cargo rack pluss an addtional 200lbs in the back of my runner with some OME springs and it barly was sagging.

I'll be doing something similar, although I opted to go with a dual bike Moto Jack Rack instead of the rail type carriers. I have allready ordered a set of airbags and while I was thinking of adding extra receivers for a rail type model to help with side to side rocking I don't know that they would be very useful on the Moto Jack Rack type carrier. I am concerned about the weight, as the carrier is 50lbs, my WR450F is 270lbs and my girlfriends KX100 is 175lbs.
