Rust metal creation

Decided i needed to make my self a sheet metal brake to build my trailer tub. It is only 24 inches wide, but i have enough steel that i can make a larger one if i need it. I still have to weld it together and add some handles

And in action.

sweet! very nice looking.
did you use a high heat paint on the brake?
I ask because you may find it easier to bend thicker stock if you use a torch and heat the bend point a bit.
Not that it makes any big difference.
You might consider submitting a how to article to out wiki. I'm sure a lot of members would be interested in how to make one themselves.

The paint was just a can i had sitting on the shelf. I am not sure how good it will bend thick stuff, i jsut tried to bend some 1/8 stuff and the clamps holding the clamp metal down let go, give n iam not sure how tight i did have them. For thicker stuff i will probably make a press for my shop press. It does bend 20 gauge real easy. The stuff i ahve to bend for my trailer tub will be about 18 gauge. I will make a parts list for it and some instructions. It really was pretty easy. It jsut took me more time to visualize it from the pics i got online. The first pivot point i used was totally wrong so i had to redo that part. I will probably end up heating the thicker metal if i use this to bend it. As for the paint holding That top section was already scratching so paint isnt going to last since it is a friction surface. Oh well the blue looks much better than the rust
