rear chevy ?'s
ok, so i did my sas... and have run out of money. im getting mad hell at work because it looks like a 500 pound woman is sitting in the rear. I am looking for info, basically everything i need to know about doing this chevy spring swap. Like...
what truck i can get the springs from, the spring perches, the driveshaft issue, i got the trailgear 5 inch sas kit and i need to get the rear up. I need to get it to look even from front to rear, and i want to go to the local pick and pull to get some of the stuff over the weekend. I need to know if i need to redo the perches on the axle. need to know if i need to do anything with having to do a u bolt flip. I dont have much money so keep that in mind. any pics of the springs on a truck would help out tremendously! thanks

Chevy's get you about 3-4" so your going to need blocks or add a leafs to get the rear up more.
Check this out though: http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/Zero%20Rates.htm
Then read this to answer ALL of your question: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...threadid=20665
My springs are from a 90ish 2wd 1500, 4 leaf pack.

they are just too long. and the previous owner was a neecompoo. so my wheel base is shorter, and the shackles are way too long, plus he didnt remove the overload leaf. but they still flex okay. they are just too long.

From what you just said, whoever did the install did a poor job and did not take the time to set them up properly.
You shouldn't remove the over load leaf either. Either cut it in half so it helps counter act spring wrap/axle hop or just leave it be.
4 or 5 leaf pack?

I will agree with Sonofmayhem on at least one point: Chevy springs are too long. They just hang out the back too far. I am constantly dragging around on my shackles. Otherwise they work very well and I still think they're a better option than stock.

I agree on both counts, also, the ones I used did not get me enough lift to match the front, I threw in a small AAL and still did not get the lift I was hoping for, but the rear is too stiff in comparison to the front now. They work great and ride nice, but for me, they are not quite up to par, had I gotten a set with better arch this may not have been a problem.

I know, i was joking, its truly sad how this overload leaf is like 1in thick if you want a pick ill give you some and i know he did it wrong and they are a good replacement, but i want to get some tg springs or marlin in there.
