She's back on all fours!!!!!!!

Well we got the rear end tacked up.

I plan on checking measurements in a couple of days and if everything checks out...we will weld it up.

This is another milestone for me since she hasn't been on all four tires in over a year

Nice looking build, I followed the link from your post in the Ozarks section. Running those springs, I'd think about going up to a 37" tire. Now's the perfect time to tub the firewall a bit for clearance

Can't wait to see it in person!

37's are in my future, just not anytime soon. Gotta save up the funds.

I have been trolling several boards to see if I can get some used 37's.

I have stock axles at this point. Not sure if I will upgrade at this point to CroMo or others. I need to get a set of spare birfs and will probably go with Longs.

Slowly making progress

Nothing like selling your house and buying a new one to speed up a build. I had to kick it in gear in order to get it on a trailer and over to the new house.

Since then I have been mainly working on interior stuff and wiring up the stereo.

I had a local fab shop put in my exhaust, plate the frame and build my bumper.

I still need to:

...Break in the diff gears
...Check and re-torque all bolts
...Install bikini-top
...wire up the winch

after that it will be ready for a test run.

It's Alive

We had a little club gathering at a members farm - which gave me an excellent opportunity to see how everything works.

So far so good...

Need to chase down a belt squeel and a vaccum issue that is only affected when the break pedal is depressed.

Here are a few pics - more to come later.

I let my wife drive it most of the morning since she had to leave early.

It has been almost 3-years since I started this project. And now I can say it is complete

Now I know there will be the occassional upgrade from time to time...which by the way Longfields are on SALE! But now it isn't an eyesore on the trails.

It took some cutting and bondo to clean up the body a bit and I opted for the rattle can paint job since this truck will most likely come into contact with some rocks and trees in the near future

And to think this truck was posted on Yotatech for $400 and nobody grabbed it.

I have included a pic of what it looked like when we pushed it into the garage.

Oh and by the way, ever since I brought it home it was very unreliable when starting. I spent most of those there years testing everything until one day the fuel pump stopped working. I put in a new pump and PRESTO she runs great!

Read the entire thread. Good job on the rebuild. Do you have any pics of how you mounted the rear bumper to the frame? Welded or bolted?
Thanks, Phil

I don't have pics - but will take some tomorrow. It basically bolts thru the two existing holes in the frame.

Not sure at this point...I will definitley be at the TLCA event at Flat & Nasty the first weekend of October and might squeeze a trip to Kansas Rocks before then. As for a trip to Arkansas, if I do it will probably be a climbing trip to Jasper or Sam's Throne - I doubt I'll bring the truck...but who knows.

I'll defitnitley make it your a some point.

Rustoleum - I pretty much just ran a scotch bright pad over the old paint to give it a little texture then sprayed it.
