Do you end up dragging a lot? (off-road cambers)

Couldn't tell you man... I don't wheel this truck. The idea behind this tire carrier, was to give people the option to build one without having to have an offroad bumper.

It sits closer to the rear hatch, than those receiver style ones, and much lighter than having a full steel bumper.

Rear hatch

Hi fightman80,

You gave me hope for the tire carrier an I've built one almost like yours. After I put my tire to test shake I noticed it wasn't as sturdy as I wanted. How did you solve that problem?i know you put a thin plate in the hatch but I was wondering if it was reinforced again and you haven't mentioned it.
Thanks,
Rookierunner

Nah... the plate solved the issue... no more shaking.

So... it's been a solid 8 years since the build... and I'm happy to say, those original hinges are still doing their duty today. I guess you can say they worked out. I wouldn't say that they would necessarily be the best option for offroad duty, but for a daily driver... definitely up for the task.

P.S: I haven't made any other revisions to the tire carrier, since the last update. Only thing I've done is treated it with POR15, to avoid having to re-paint it every year.
