I'd suggest going to www.pirate4x4.com and doing some long searching as the answer to every thread you've started has been covered there, just don't ask these questions over there or you will get in half.

That design above in the rear seems to completely waste the storage space in the rear. While he does have the shocks mounted up in there, only God knows why as there is really no reason to, I know Peter bought it like that. An exo cage is much more practical than an internal roll cage and can be made just as strong, if not stronger, and you don't have to sacrifice inside room/storage space.

I personaly dont like how the exo cages look, so I plan on getting a similiar cage for my 4runner(except for the shocks going through the floor and some more bracing). The reason the shocks are through the floor is to fit the longest shock possible. His I think are 2.5x14" or 2.5x16" kings, those arent going to fit under the floor unless they are at some extreme angle. The more angle of the shock the less effective it is and you will need stiffer valving. So the more vertical the shock is the more effective it is. At least thats my reasoning.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he ran it like this but I do know that he was into jumping this truggy.
All things considered though, I like what's back there and the idea that I can take off the shell and have that cage instead of the stock bar is cool

I do have to say that I have had some difficulty dealing with the lost space but I'm not crying over it. I'm flexible, I can work around it

COOL!
I feel like someone just asked me for an autograph

I talked to one welder and he mentioned that the above image of the cage is the weak point. According to him there should be a support bar between the shocks. As it sits currently all the load is centered to that one part in the middle. Since there's nothing supporting that it's quite possible that it will collapse.

Something I'll have to get remedied later.

EDIT:
sorry about the poor quality pics... they were off a PDA camera
