Welding is a skill, yes anyone can burtcher there way through a project that has little welding exprence but it takes a true fabricator to build something that is designed correctly and can function as you intened it. In all honesty i would not hold out much hope for thoses welds to last.
True, didn't bevel the edges. We'll see though. My first non stock shock setup held for awhile (didn't do any shock absorption though), and that was one of the first things I welded. These welds have good penetration, I just make multiple passes in an attempt to connect some areas which is why it looks like surface welds only. We'll see though, even if the top mounts break, the bottom ones really won't, those are some of my best welds, so the shock wouldn't go flying off into anyone's windshield. Before I noticed something was wrong and stopped. The drivers side though where the 1.5" square tubing mates to the tube crossmember, I know those are sorry and I am going to fix those. I now realize you can't see that the passenger side has a 3/16" plate running along the front of the angle iron and down to the spare tire crossmember.

I just read this entire thread and this build is a perfect example of why I tell my wife to steer clear of modified trucks on the highway.

I'll give you an "A" for effort but in the immortal words of Dirty Harry "a man's gotta know his limitations". lol!

Wise words neo but on the other hand if we never try to exceed our limitations we never acquire any new skills or achieve excellence...

It's best to practice new skills before applying them to real world sitiuations.

I know I just was being facetious, I'd probably laugh at me... This is really making me wish I had gotten a 220v for easier penetration though. And it's 40 miles later and they haven't budged. Which includes, as Swampthing would know some really really ty streets. Potholes everywhere...not as bad as Houston though.

Them shock mounts are Ghetto as queen latifa.. But they look like theyll hold up, I wouldn't run 'em tho, your bumper design is pretty sweet but I dont see why you used tiny ass tube... Get something beefy cause that wouldn't hold up for me. Other then that, Nice rig.

It'll work for awhile because I don't run crazy trails and I don't plan on being so irresponsible I need it to hold up to anything too serious. But maybe once I get a locker and have more time to go off roading I'll upgrade to a Trailgear.

Got this guy off a '92 4Runner, 2WD, Automatic, V6, sticker in doorjamb said 225/75's, but my truck says this as well but came with the 31" tire package.

I've spun the driveshaft side in an attempt to ascertain the ratio, sadly it looks like a 4.30 or even 4.10. I was wondering if this is the 4.88 which according to another thread has a totally different case and is either impossible to change the gears in or it can't be done at all because the case is different. This one looks slightly different then mine but I thought I'd ask you all to lend a hand.

I just counted the teeth, ring has 39 and the pinion has 11. I guess the PO had it regeared or something. This diff is wack, according to the R&P it has a 3.55 gear ratio. WTF? And it was dirty as hell, I doubt it ever came off that rear differential housing.

I see, the problem though is I've never heard of a 3.55 in a Toyota. Especially this model. So I checked the spiders gears and they're 16 and 10 teeth. So I thought multiply these and that gives me 5.68 so christ.

.....gear ratio comes from teeth on the ring and pinon, good chance you miscounted the pinion, a common 2WD gear is 3.90.....39/10

Yep, marked the ring with a marker numerically but didn't with the pinion. Damn 3.90s. So why'd did they gear the 2wd and 4wd so drastically different? Wouldn't the 4Runner feel slower then hell with 3.90s, an auto and V6?

Wow . was going to praise you for trying to build something on your own.

But even after the mod came in here to soften people up, you're still ignorant.

Nice original design on the front bumper. Square is ok, would look better painted black.

That tiny tube going from the stinger to the headlight ?? Aesthetics?

I did feel sorry for you, until you proved your age.

Hit a Corolla and the bedliner didn't even come off. And the stuff from the stinger to the upper light area is a solid cylinder, not weak at all. Will not fail. You guys and your crap talking.
