General Buildup (pic heavy)

I figured that it was about time to update my truck. I ed it up this past 4th of July, lots of alcohol and no food don't mix, but anyway she needs some work and I decided since I now have a new house with a garage (another long story) I should fix all the stuff I've been needing and wanting to do.

I will be getting new shocks, making new mounts for the rears so they're at a near 45 degree angle with 14 inches of travel in the shocks, Downey's rear u-bolt flip kit, Downey long travel rear springs with another leaf for more height, BJ spacers from 4 Crawler, custom rock sliders, custom front bumper, redesign my light bar, get more lights, new hood and front fenders, custom rear bumper, Ceramic brake pads, etc etc.

From the first accident

And here she is taken apart

Update:

I think this is with all the lift done, don't remember if I had the Downey springs yet, probably. I think I hadn't put the 2" blocks in yet.

You have to spend money to have fun with trucks.

Oh god no rear suspension

And now featuring blocks.

Beauty, pure beauty

My step/wannabe sliders

The shocks need to be repositioned, they look awesome like this though.

No front bumper

Making sure my stick doesn't break on me again while I'm trying to get on the highway.

Assorted goodies

And how she looks after a day back at it after months of stagnation.

to be honest...I don't know what to say. The new front suspension looks good... but then I saw everything else o_O

I mean, I know you gotta spend big bucks to work on trucks (you can quote me on that rhyme lol) but lift blocks and that suspension setup looks pretty el cheapo to me. And those sliders...looks like you ran out of metal and just wanted to finish with whatever scrap you had left. Same with that front bumper.

I mean props for doing it yourself but I dunno if I'd trust it on the trails... o_O

Dude, I'm not done. And I did the sliders how I wanted them. There is no solid axle, so they don't need to be that strong, they can support the truck I have tested them.

I feel insulted that someone would think that bumper was done. As for the trails it's just fine, the lift isn't cheap, blocks aren't bad so chill out.

Jesus, there is nothing wrong with blocks, they're 2". Now if they were 6" then yeah, grill me, but they're not.

I think fillsrunner4 tried his rear shocks kind of like that /\ but found he had way too much body roll and the shocks wouldnt do much at that kind of angle anyway.

I'd find a way to keep them a bit more vertical.

Lol, trust me, no sapling will bend that, and it's not even close to done. That front bumper will be strong when I'm done. I just wanted to update it.

I'm going to do something similar when I build my winch bumper, keeping the stock outer/signal lights/corners.

Keep it up, as long as your OK with it that's all that matters.

Maybe its just me but it looks like that bumper will fold up on itself if there was a strong gust of wind.

No, but it would fall off since it's only being held on by two loose bolts and two clamps.

is the point of this "bumper" just for holding some lights?......

it seems like the processes of building it is driven by flying by the seat of your pants.....

I think after a while of looking at it your going to want to redo it, perhaps using some material that is MUCH stronger than half inch square tubing.

For what its worth I think the bumper looks good. Could use some more reinforcement on the stinger part of it, but looks great otherwise.

If you post it, you WILL get opinions on it.

Personally, I think its about the ugliest most pointless thing I've seen that someone might call a "bumper"........ I think I could jump kick it and bend/break it, and there's no way it would support the weight of the truck in any way, form or fashion (goes for the "sliders" too).

But to each his own. Some guys like 16 guage 1" square tubing........ I used it one time for a roof rack, and didn't even think it was anywhere near beefy enough for that.
