I am putting in a 91 302 in my 87 right now. It isnt that hard. You can order your parts from Northwestoffroad.com You will definetly need the engine mounts and the transfer case shims

Does anyone know how much taller the truck intake is than the car intake? I have a line on a (cheap/totaled) '95 F150 w/ 122k on it and I think I have my wife convinced to let me do this swap. I was planning on eventually doing a 4crawler 1" body lift anyway and I don't mind shimming the back of the hood so it sits a little (1/4-1/2") higher. I had to promise to part out and dispose of the rest of the truck so it wasn't sitting in our driveway. The truck is auto, but it is complete. I want to sell the auto tranny and put a T5 5-speed behind it in my truck. My '81 is 2wd, so I am not worried about t-case compatibility. I know those trannies are failry compact and strong enough for light duy work. Does anyone have any other tranny suggestions? In case that doesn't fit, the HO intake manifold and TB are a direct swap, right? Also, I am searching the net non-stop right now for tech tips and stuff on how to do this swap, etc... If you have any links that you think may help, lets see them! I know there are some already listed in this thread, but there may be more. I suck at finding things with Google anymore.

Keep it Real
If you want to have a Bad Toy put A SUPRA with Turbo that way you get same if not more horses than a 302 or 351 and better Gas milage

Supra motor is harder to fit, parts are more expensive, and you get turbo lag, plus the added heat of the turbo under the hood. (not good for a trail rig). gas mileage isnt a factor either, the truck is strictly a trail rig, however they both do get about the same mileage. Plus I like the sound of a V8.

i personally think the 4.7L V8 from the Tundra would be the best. or find out about the new GODZILLA(09' Skyline GT-R V-Spec) motor and see if that would fit a Yota!

well, time to bring this up again.. im about 3 days from having a running driving lincoln with a 5.0 HO sitting in my driveway ready for the swap...
So has anyone put together a walkthrough on this yet, or is it just a wing it kind of deal? I do have some requirements I've decided for my swap, like all factory instruments work... except maybe coolant temp. This would include the tach, which may be fun.... IF there arent any good walkthroughs, does anyone know of a good source for the lincoln wiring manual to help convert this thing?

Just to refresh my memory and the thread, what transmission are you using and what T-case? The easiest would be is to get the bellhousing adapter from Northwest Offroad (do not care for that company) and bolt it to your Toyota trans. I was going to go your route but being the fact their is not much out there for Ford's, I went with a Chevy 4.3. Easier, cheaper and parts are plentiful.

ya... I've thought of that... then i did some more thinking and changed my mind again...
instead of swapping a 302 into a 87 4runner, i've decided to sell it and get a 96-98 4runner, bob and SAS it, then drive it til the motor goes. Once it does, then swap in the 302... so now its back to waiting again....
