Cummins 4bt, th400, 14bolt, dana 60,etc in a 99 taco

figured id go ahead and start the post on my 99 taco SAS, this is going to be a long build probably wont be finished until next fall, but aiming to get it running by early next summer, the old chassis will changed out for a new one im building, since this diesel will tear the stock on apart, heres the basic synopsis

cummins 4bt (3.9 4 cylinder turbo diesel 105 hp 320 lbs tq)
turbo 400 with B&M bandit blade stick shifter
np 205 tcase with high angle 3:1 gear set, and e-brake
14 bolt rear (4.56s)
chevy dana 60 front with
crane Cromo outer C's
dedenbear Knuckles
chevy brakes and rotors form napa
superior 35 spline axles (outer and inner)
warn premium locking hubs
spicer u joint (for now)
chevy 63" leafs
wangoneer fronts (may change)
homemade shackles and hangers, etc
bilstein 7100
chevy brake booster
f250 power steering box
sky manu high steering kit
37x13.50x16 bf goods mtrs on 16x10 steelies
custom drive shafts (high angle most likely, or savannah powertrain)
flowmaster outlaw muffler (3.5" smoke stack coming out of the tool box)

future stuff will include
bosch p1700 fuel pump
chelsea power take off and pump of somesort
hydraulic winch
Arb's front and rear

right now i have both axles, power steering box, chevy leaf springs, and about to pick up the engine in a couple weeks, like said this build will take a while, but im in no rush itll be when its done

that actually the reason why i want to do this, something different, but yet still get some decent gas mileage on 37" tires

the whole 2.7 rolling chassis is going, manual 5 spd, all pro upper A arms with downey coilovers and add a leafs

couple more pics of the 14 bolt, just needs outer SRW hubs, and the A-frame hoist im still workin on for our shop (engine hoist and other uses), and the jig to build the frame on, nothing much yet, but once i get the engine with a couple more paychecks (most expensive part) i can then get the cheaper stuff and then the project will really kick into gear http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bwarne...20%20%20%20%09

id imagine advance adapter makes one, the one im getting should already have it on there, thats the awesome thing about the block is that cummins made it so that it can used in various applications

It depends on what the engine trans came out of.

Lots of delivery trucks, Frito Lay, Hostess Twinkies, etc. had the 4Bt mill, if it was ordered with a diesel.

And if the chassis was G.M. it has a Chevy bell housing, most delivery trucks had a TH 400 trans, some had the SM 465 4 speeds.

Lot's of old used delivery trucks for sale or auction in the web searches I've done.

heres the motor finally, just needs minor stuff replaced gaskets, hoses and a new turbo, but other than that its in pretty good condition

not really, ive been kinda busy with finishing college, and working at the same time, ive been saving up for a long time for this motor, this build should progress more and more by this summer, i take that back, i did get all the brakes and outers done on the 14 bolt

If youre only going to run 37s, ill trade you a built and geared yota front end for your 60
Youll only gain about of 9" of diff clearance using a yota axle over that 14 bolt.

nah my goal is to get more low end torque than a v6 and mpg than my 2.7, i changed the idea of going with an nv4500, more reliable, better fuel economy and control over an auto, heres a recent thread on one conversion in an fj80 with a 700r4,
