Can you make a 22R become a 22RE?
Hey guys, will a fuel injection system bolt on to a 22R motor? Has anyone ever done it? Are there any kits out there? Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks, Traumahawk

There may also be a difference with the heads as well as the valvetrain. Not sure on that. PM Kyle 22R. that guy has done a ton of work on that engine, and knows it inside and out.

it would cost you. either go propane (which is even better than efi if it's just a wheeler cuz you remove all the old ÅÅÅÅty wiring and sensors) or swap in a 22re. just my .02.

doesnt propane just kill the performance? at work we have an old ford feed truck that runs on propane alone, its got a 351 V8 and we've buried it in the horse corral in mud up the the hubs and it wouldnt even spin a tire in 4-LO. i've heard of propane injection where you inject it like nitrous. is that what your suggesting?

Yes you can.
There is a good tech article at offroadsolutions.com
Propane is a less efficient CH provider so power suffers.
Have you had carb issues, or is it internet hype?

I'm sure you can, but the heads are different!!! I have a 22re in my truck and had to do a head gasket change, so I did but had an almost brand new 22r head, so I put that one on... Little did I know that on the intake side there is one water jacket that dosent line up correctly so I had coolant leaking out of the fornt end of the intake side and into the engine...
