with the receiver hitch I was way to low in the back and kept dragging on rocks and transitions. Since i wanted to retain a receiver and increase departure angle a rear bumper was the only choice. I mounted it using the factory receiver hitch bolts so I know it is strong enough. Also there arent to many choices out there for the rear. now the front bumper you have a choice of some really good looking ones so not really a need to come up with my own design.

I might be interested, however I still have not been able to find the time to finish my swing away. I would not want to commit to someone a product and not be able to deliver.

what the heck did you make the sides out of? that looks like at least 1/2" plate to protect the quarter panel. How heavy is that bumper?

Sides are 1/8 Plate steel with 1" square tube perimeter and the support piece going to frame from front is 1x2. The main rear piece is 2x3x3/16 steel tube and frame brackets are 4x4x1/4 angle steel guessing about 65-75lbs but will weigh it next time i have it off for the swing away build
