82 frame repair
Picked up a cheap 82 and it's got a lot of frame rust. So after work I have been cutting out sections of rust to solid metal and replacing it with 1/8 steel. Then my plan it's to fish plate it.

Thanks a lot! I wanted a solid axle and it was a good price, everyone in Alaska wants an arm and both legs for yotas. Floor is rotten and PO did an amazing job of acting like they new wht they were doing so it should be fun trying to figure out there work while learning about this old thing myself hahah

There is no reason that needs to be welded solid other then you getting carried away. Happens all the time!!
With the Plug welds A few stitch welds every few inches is more then enough for structural strength.
Quite easy to make your own spring hangers
Just goes to show any frame can be repaired if one wants to spend the time.

So I built some brackets and the previous owner had hacked/moved the old one out of place. So I have measured from front to rear rims, cross measured axel to frame and it all seems square but one of the shackles is setting back at more of an angle. I was wondering what your take on that would be.
Thanks a lot
