dibble9012's 05 Tundra DC SR5
Here's some info on my new 05 Tundra
I figured pictures say a thousand words, so here like, what, 5 million words for ya ![]() Here's the 4runner I'm upgrading from. Really a great vehicle, I just need the extra hauling capacity. ![]() When purchased it already had front tinted windows to match the back, and the rhino liner, which way way in the future might be replaced with line-x. The installer did a really bad job on the rhino, but hey it might not look nice, but it sure does it's job of protecting the bed. I've hauled bricks, mulch, topsoil, etc and only a few gouges down to the metal from using a shovel to get stuff out. For now this truck is my daily driver and I use it for work, so probably no lift for a while, plus I just got new tires. So I guess you could call it a 'mall" truck. Although I did take it across a flooded backroad the other day, lol Feel free to PM, IM or email me if you have any questions about my truck or any mods, I'll be happy to answer them! Another excellent Toyota truck site is www.tundrasolutions.com, I am a member there under the same user name. Added so far: Muth signal mirrors OEM Navigation with bluetooth, sirius radio, backup camera, ipod aux input, and steering wheel controls for cell phone. Hellwig anti sway bar Bridgestone Revo's Toyota All weather floor mats One-touch window relay for rear window Auto dim rear view mirror Custom made upgraded headlight harness with 100/80 watt bulbs, fuse box, and relay box Color keyed mirror covers "fog light" mod (allows fog lights to be used with parking lights, low beams, and high beams) **I had to disconnect my driving lights on my light bar to get the truck to pass inspection, too many lights on at once. Anyways, after it's inspected, I re-connected them. I don't see the problem, I don't drive with my high beams on when there is a car in front of me or approaching me.** maglight mod Toyota OEM step boards to protect from flying rocks from revos ![]() 3m Rock Protection film on the hood, fenders, mirrors, A pillars, and between the windshield and sunroof. Heated seats with OEM switches. All instrument panel lights are now converted to LED's, it's a much deeper and brighter green. I was going to change the color to white or orange, but I could not change the clock, compass, or homelink buttons to match, so decided to stay with the green. Center console LED lighting that automatically comes on when the console lid is opened. LED ribbon footwell lights, these replaced the small square arrays I had before. Color keyed rear bumper HID projector retrofit with CORRECT BEAM PATTERN ![]() Sound Deadening using Raamat, already ordered and on the way here. Plans for further out future ![]() Color keyed grille, get rid of all chrome! I might lift it someday, but not for a while since I just got new tires, plus still got to pay the truck off. See, every month I own about $400 more of MY truck , I like that mod!Week after purchase: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some recent pictures: ![]() ![]()

Muth heated signal mirrors. I took some extra time to install quick disconnects at the door jam and right after the mirrors mount on the doors. This way if I ever have to remove the door or the mirror, I can disconnect the signal mirrors in the same places I disconnect the OEM connections. This will come in handy soon when I am installing my sound deadening.

Lots of pictures for this one
I'll try to explain the best I canToyota OEM Navigation: Before: Just a boring stock stereo. ![]() After: Spacers to make navigation flush with console: Without these there is about 1/4 or 1/2 inch gap between the nav and the bezel. ![]() ![]() Installed: ![]() Steering wheel controls: (first picture is testing if I liked the lighter color, the bluetooth controls are not available to match my steering wheel.) They closely match the door panels so it doesn't look too off. Remember, if you are playing around the airbag, remove the battery for at least 90 seconds!! I waited 5 minutes just to be safe. Even then I was kinda nervous, well REALLY nervous, but it turned out well. ![]() ![]() ![]() Voice Navigation mic above ignition: Used for voice commands such as dial by number, and also for cell phone conversations, VERY clear, people don't know I am talking on a cell phone! ![]() Backup camera: ![]() ![]() Aux Input for my ipod, can be used with anything with a headphone jack: This part is from a Toyota Sienna. I just had to mod the circuit board to fit behind a switch knockout. I can even hook up my laptop to this! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sirius Radio: Antenna: I had to mod the antenna so the power wire for the autodim mirror could pass through it. The glass mounted antenna cuts out occasionally from trees and bridges, but I'll take that over having an ugly antenna on the roof. ![]() Screen: ![]()

Hellwig anti sway bar, MUST HAVE, night and day difference when cornering! Looks a little off center in the pic but it has since been fixed.

Upgraded the headlight harness, attached to a 4 slot fuse box and relay box. Later upgraded to a 6 slot fuse box, seen further down in this thread. Eventually I plan to do an HID projector retrofit, this harness will come in handy for that project. Even though HID's do not pull that much power, it's best to get an upgraded harness because they pull a lot of power on startup.
And the upgraded lights, left new bulb, right old bulb ![]()

TRD color keyed Mirror Covers. They look great!! There is one spot on the passenger side that looks like a fiber from a towel or something like that, not bad enough for me to take it back. Otherwise they did an excellent job, no orange peel or bumps. I will probably go to the same place to get a limited front and rear bumper painted (if I can't find my color in the junk yard). The company is Unlimited Auto Body in Warrenton, VA.

Running boards just installed today! I really don't care too much for running boards, I find them getting the back of my pants dirty when I get out of the truck. Needed them though to keep the sides of the truck clean and semi rock chip free, and to help my parents and grandparents enter and exit the truck. You can also see the color keyed mirror covers better in these pictures

Copied from another thread to update "my rig" thread
![]() Well, I decided I would buy some LED's for the interior lights and exterior non-crucial lights (license plate, clearance lights). ![]() I also replaced all of the door bulbs. They are really nice, heck of a lot brighter than stock. Only gripe I have is they are a little harsh on the eyes because they are white and not a easier on the eyes yellow. The pictures make them look really blue, they are a bright white, definately not the color you see in the pics, more of a crisp white. (during the day they look a little blue though) Here are some pics of the clearance lights. I really like them better when they are amber colored. I guess I'm a little camera happy today, but I'm sure they will be useful for someone thinking about changing to LED's. The clearance lights flash with the keyless entry, now they have a really nice ON/OFF cycle, no dimming as the bulb turns off and on.Before ![]() After ![]() Comparison ![]() Well I'm finished with my LED install for the interior! I also added footwell lights up front drivers and passenger side(picture from the website below) and custome wired them to the drivers side footwell light. Updated 05 Tundra DC Bulb List: The festoon bulb in the 05 Tundra DC is superbrightleds.com part# "4410 LED Festoon bulb" 44x10mm festoon bulb. ![]() All the other map, door panel, license plate, and clearence lights are superbrightleds.com part# "WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb" with 194/168 base. ![]() Here is what I used for the footwell lights, I just cut off the connector and added my own connectors to my harness. superbrightleds.com part# "1156-PCB-W24" ![]() Finally pics of the LED footwell LED's. They really make the front seem brighter because you don't have deep black holes where your feet are ![]() I just double side taped and zip tied them behind the dash. I made my own harness that had a bulb base that interfaces with the stock mini bulb holder in the drivers side footwell. Everything has quick disconnects so if one of the LED arrays fails, I can easily replace it with another LED array or any other bulb, all I have to do is put a quick disconnect on the new fixture. (Don't have to remove all the wiring to replace one component.) Passenger side: ![]() ![]() Drivers side: ![]() ![]() I considered making my own boards, but after pricing everything out and the time involved, the pre-made ones turned out to be cheaper. I enjoyed making the harness though, all my wiring is nice and clean. It has vinyl sheathing (not split loom or spiral wrap, this is vinyl tubing, patience to get the wire through, lol) and quick disconnects. I should also note that normally these lights come on with the dome lights, but for the pictures I turned the dome lights off to show how bright the footwells are now. With all the lights on it's bright The Tundra has a stock footwell light on the drivers side only, its a joke, the bulb is smaller than a pencil eraser.

ok, Real spring cleaning this time!
Washed, stripped off old wax, clayed, and polished/waxed with Zomol (I think thats the name) Looks awesome, just in time for it to rain this week, lol. Like a mirror, and mirror smooth, amazing how much came off with the clay bar! I wasn't planning on claying the whole truck (It's a big job) but a friend came over and we were talking while I was claying, and before I knew it the whole truck was done! ![]()

Next project, adding driving lights. First I wanted to find a switch that blended in with the interior.
Fits perfectly in my Tundra dash (after some slight modifications to the switch) Part numbers & prices are as follows (from a 2005 Tacoma): Switch: 84160-04010 ($36) Connector: 90980-11090 ($3) Pins (order 4): 82998-12340 ($4 ea) It is a little far away to push when driving, but I will leave it on all the time (so the lights automatically come on with the high beams) ![]() The switch was "Keyed" for a different opening, so I had to shave off (I actually melted them off with a special soldering iron "bit") the keys, after that the switch fit perfectly. You can see where I melted the plastic, it's the rough areas on the left hand side. ![]() And here's how to wire it up (copied from toyota-4runner.org) ![]() To Illuminate when lights are powered on: [1] ground [2] wired to [3], then wired to relay that is powering your lights [3] wired to [4] [4] power (usually from high beam circuit for driving lights) To Illuminate with dash lights (parking lamps) [1] ground [2] dash illumination wire (from another switch, rear of radio, etc) [3] power (usually from high beam circuit for driving lights) [4] wired to relay that is powering your lights

Upgraded-upgraded fuse box
Well since I am adding 3 driving lights, I decided to replace my 4 slot fuse box with a 6 slot fuse box. I split the 6 slot fuse box into two sets of three, each circuit connects to a 50 amp circuit breaker. I am finally done with all the wiring in the truck for the driving lights. All I have to do is mount the lights on the light bar when it arrives and plug them into a quick disconnect I mounted behind the bumper I also re-wired my relay box and upgraded headlight harness, so everything is neatly in wire loom all together (it's one huge harness instead of several smaller ones that take up more room and look less tidy) The wires for the driving light switch go through the same grommet that the heater control cable goes through. ![]() Wire going through firewall ![]() Two 50 amp circuit breakers ![]() Battery wires ![]()

I got the original 4000's installed the other day, decided they were too big for my needs. Replaced them with Hella compact 4000 today. The light they put out is awesome! I also cleaned up the wiring a lot on the actual bar. Instead of running the wire through the grille or have it zip tied to the bar, I drilled holes in the bar, and ran the wires inside. I still have to get some grommets to block out water and prevent any shorts. Turned out great I think, might add a center light sometime this summer. The bar is made by Randy Ellis Designs, I highly recommend it. The whole thing is really solid/great quality and workmanship. The full size hella 4000's are for sale, pm me for details.
